About
The Clean Buses | Healthy Kids progam is a partnership of area school districts that purchases school bus emissions-reduction equipment (diesel oxidation catalysts, or DOCs) with federal and state grant funds. The Mid-America Regional Council manages program funding and purchases the DOCs to distribute to school districts free of charge. Funds from this program also support the metro-wide, community-led "Idle-Free Zone" campaign.
In order to activate the grant funding, local contributions are required from community, business and individual donors. One hundred percent of the contributions received by this program go directly to purchasing parts for school buses.
If you have questions about this program, please call 816/474-4240 or e-mail MARC's AirQ progam.
